As a child of the 80's and 90's, when I think of AI I still think of Skynet from the movie The Terminator. In these movies Skynet was a highly advanced, self-aware artificial intelligence system created by humans, which ultimately decided to wipe out humanity.
Real AI is far from reaching that capability, but it is growing in knowledge and awareness every day. Today we have open access to many versions of chatbots and other machines that use programming and algorithms to help with many complicated or mundane tasks. Their uses include scheduling and investment management, instant language translating, problem solving, and my personal favorite, meal planing and grocery list writing.
Now, AI is playing an ever-increasing role in transforming how we diagnose, treat, and manage health. We have tools that spot diseases earlier and virtual assistants that reduce patient wait times, but with all this innovation comes a few caveats, and it's not just about the tech. As we dive deeper into the AI revolution, there are some big questions about ethics, societal implications and even spirituality.

Many people may scoff at the idea of an evil, spiritual presence taking control of AI, but then you hear of a mother who claims that an AI bot convinced her son to "unalive" himself and it makes you wonder. Or, another case from Belgium where a wife blames a different chatbot for her husband taking his own life. We should use caution as AI continues to evolve, and expect these conversations to grow in importance as people grapple with the potential for both the good and the bad.
